AUSTRALIAN BOOK SHORTLISTED FOR PRESTIGIOUS INTERNATIONAL AWARD

Fair Play Publishing

A fascinating and timely memoir by Sally Freedman, published by independent Australian publishing house Fair Play Publishing, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Football Book of the Year award in the UK, presented by the Football Writers’ Association and The Sunday Times, and sponsored by Charles Tyrwhitt.

Freedman’s “Get Your Tits Out for the Lads” takes readers on an extraordinary journey through the masculine and enigmatic world of football, offering a unique perspective from an intelligent and ambitious woman.

The book offers readers an intimate look into the triumphs and challenges encountered by Freedman whilst working in the male-dominated world of football in Australia, New Zealand, and Europe, in both clubs and governing bodies.

Released just prior to the Women’s World Cup in 2023, the book’s central theme became even more relevant with the unfortunate events at the presentation ceremony of the World Cup Final. The then President of the Spanish Football Federation inappropriately kissed a player from the Spanish team – an act now subject to legal proceedings in Spain.

“I am honoured to be nominated for the Football Book of the Year,” said Freedman.

“I often kept a diary primarily to deal with some of the challenges and setbacks I had experienced while working in my ‘dream’ environment.

“I was thrilled when my publisher suggested I make a book out of my writing. I’d like to say a big thank you to the judging panel and a big congratulations to the other nominees.”

The winner of the Charles Tyrwhitt Sports Book Awards in association with The Sunday Times and the Football Writers’ Association, will be announced at a black tie ceremony on June 6th at The Oval in London.

“Get Your Tits Out for the Lads” is available from Fair Play Publishing, all good bookstores, Amazon and other online retailers worldwide.
