Firearm And Drug Charges At Gold Coast

Gold Coast police have charged a 30-year-old Gold Coast man with multiple drug and firearm offences.

Around 3pm on May 9, police received a report that a grey Land Rover was allegedly being driven erratically, had hit a curb, and almost collided with several vehicles on Monaco Street, Broadbeach Waters.

Police located the male driver with the vehicle that sustained damage, stationary in the middle of Savoy Drive, Broadbeach Waters.

After speaking with the man, police conducted a roadside drug test and searched the vehicle, where they allegedly located a loaded shotgun.

Police also allegedly seized a quantity of drugs, including cocaine and methylamphetamine, along with a substantial amount of cash.

He has been charged with four counts of possessing dangerous drugs. One count each of unlawful possession of a weapon, possessing anything used in the commission of a crime, possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under the Drugs Misuse Act, offence in relation to unauthorised and prohibited explosives, possessing utensils or pipes that have been used and driving without due care and attention.

The man was denied police bail and is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on May 10.
