Funding For Agriculture Industry Supercharged

Jane Howlett, Minister for Primary Industries and Water

Peak bodies and agricultural associations will have more resources under the Tasmanian Government’s supercharged and highly successful Strategic Industry Partnership Program (SIPP).

Minister for Primary Industries and Water, Jane Howlett, said the supercharged SIPP is part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future to encourage collaboration and capacity building in our agriculture sector through development activities.

“We are stepping up our support for frontline agriculture workers by supercharging this Program, providing more resources and supports for development opportunities,” Minister Howlett said.

“The SIPP will provide targeted grants on a co-investment basis to agricultural organisations in recognition of the critical role they play in supporting agri-food industry sectors, individual producers and agribusinesses.

“As part of the First 100 Days Plan, we have already moved to develop the guidelines of the supercharged Program, and applications will open on July 1.

“For the first time, the Program’s eligibility criteria will include smaller organisations such as agricultural associations.

“Agriculture is big contributor to the Tasmanian economy and plays an enormous role in shaping our cultural and social identity.

“Past recipients have included organisations such as Sprout Tasmania, Fruit Growers Tasmania and the Tasmanian Agricultural Productivity Group.

“This ongoing investment through the SIPP in the Tasmanian agriculture sector will continue to drive the Government’s target to grow the annual farmgate value to $10 billion by 2050,” Minister Howlett said.
