Maintenance works on the western viewing platform on the Cairns Esplanade, behind the Reef Eye Ferris Wheel are scheduled to start next week.
The works are expected to take two months to complete and will require the closure of the nearby footpath to stop public access.
Fencing to temporarily close footpaths will be installed on Saturday 4 May.
Works will include water blasting, concrete repairs, new steel plates and supports, and corrosion control.
The public is asked to follow any directions and detours as signed.
