New Pop-up Festival Launches In Darwin

NT Government

A brand new pop-up music festival set to boost the Territory’s economy and bolster local businesses will be taking place in the Top End in 2024.

BASSINTHECITY, featuring popular rap artist J-MILLA alongside supporting acts The Lunar Society and Madison will take place in Austin Lane in Darwin’s CBD.

BASSINTHECITY is an expansion of the Territory’s largest music festival BASSINTHEGRASS, and will feature a mix of musicians, cultural acts, food vans, and local businesses – and the best thing yet it’s all free. This event is occurring in the days leading up to BASSSINTHEGRASS.

BASSINTHECITY will be held in Austin Lane and Spain Place on Wednesday, 15 May from 6.30pm.

With BASSINTHEGRASS, the Territory’s largest music festival only three days after this new event, the Territory Labor Government is aiming to encourage visitors to stay in the Territory longer and generate more economic stimulus for the region and local businesses.

Last year, BASSINTHEGRASS drew 4000 strong crowd from interstate alone and added $13.1 million to the Territory economy, and it is predicted this year will be record breaking with international superstar Macklemore headlining alongside widely popular artists like Ziggy Alberts and The Jungle Giants.
