Benalla Rural City Council is thrilled to welcome significant funding for the development of a new pump track at the Fawckner Drive Precinct.

Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes was in Benalla on Tuesday 7 May to announce the $300,000 funding allocation in the 2024/25 Victorian state budget for the new Benalla pump track.

“It is always great to be back in my hometown to announce funding for Benalla,” the Member for Northern Victoria said.

“The Allan Labor government is proud to be investing in the bike pump track, which we know will be a wonderful community asset keeping kids active and outdoors.”

Mayor, Cr Danny Claridge, welcomed the funding announcement, saying Council would look to match the funding in the budget to see the project commence before the end of 2024.

“This initiative aligns with our ongoing commitment to enhance the infrastructure and overall well-being of our Rural City,” Cr Claridge said.

“We believe the pump track will provide a direct benefit to residents by promoting active lifestyles and youth engagement.”

“During the development of the Fawckner Drive Masterplan, the community identified the pump track as a priority project for this much-loved recreation precinct.”

“We would like to express our gratitude to the Victorian State Government for their support. This funding pledge is a testament to local and state government working together to create stronger communities.”

Cr Claridge said community and stakeholder consultation on the design and implementation of the pump track redevelopment will be the first step in this process.

“We look forward to seeing the positive impact this pump track will have on our community and will continue to work with our community to bring this project to fruition.”
