State-of-the-art new ambulance station opens in Lake Cathie

Frontline emergency care across the Mid North Coast is set to receive a significant boost with the official opening of the Lake Cathie Ambulance Station today.

Member of the Legislative Council and Labor spokesperson for Port Macquarie Cameron Murphy joined NSW Ambulance paramedics, local families, and community members to mark the milestone.

The new station is part of the NSW Government’s $232 million Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration (RAIR) program, which is the single largest investment in regional NSW Ambulance’s 129-year history.

The new station includes accommodation and rest facilities for paramedics, internal parking for up to 4 emergency ambulance vehicles, staff common areas, administration and office areas, logistics and storage areas, and a vehicle wash bay.

NSW Ambulance worked to identify the new location using demand modelling software which maps Triple Zero calls and determined the site at 1379 Ocean Drive as a suitable for the new station.

Fifty-four new or upgraded ambulance stations are being delivered across NSW as part of the $232 million RAIR program.

Minister for Health Ryan Park said:

“The NSW Government is committed to investing in health infrastructure to support better health outcomes for rural and regional communities. That’s why the new Lake Cathie Ambulance Station is an essential addition to our regional healthcare network.

“This new modernised facility equips our paramedics with enhanced resources to meet the growing demand for emergency medical care in the area.”

Port Macquarie Cameron Murphy MLC said:

“The new station is a testament to the NSW Government’s dedication to providing first-class emergency services in regional NSW.

“This new building provides a more comfortable working environment for our dedicated paramedics to tailor the needs of the local community and enhance out-of-hospital care in the Lake Cathie, Bonny Hills and surrounding areas.”

NSW Ambulance Commissioner Dr Dominic Morgan said:

“Lake Cathie Ambulance Station will provide our paramedics with purpose-built facilities and equipment to continue to provide high quality emergency care throughout the Lake Cathie community and surrounding areas, now and into the future.

“We’re excited to have this new station up and running for our local crews and the wider region.”
