Police charge man with Arson at Prospect heritage listed property

Police have charged one man and seek another as part of the ongoing investigation into a fire at a heritage listed property at Prospect on 22 December 2018.

The arson attack caused substantial damage to the unoccupied heritage listed property ‘The Gatehouse’.

Police have charged a 19-year-old Hadspen man with Arson in relation to the fire. He was bailed to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on 29 May 2019.

Acting Detective Inspector John Parker of Northern CIB said:

“As part of the ongoing investigation detectives are renewing their request for public assistance to identity a man seen running from the fire in a westerly direction on Westbury Road.

“Although we have been able to identify and charge one of the men responsible for the arson, we are seeking information from the public to identify the second man involved.”

The second man is described as being around 20 years of age, slim build, around 170cm tall, wearing a muscle type singlet, with short brown or blonde hair.
