Notre Dame’s School of Nursing and Midwifery prepares students for the healthcare environment by building their skills in all aspects of healthcare delivery, with the aim of developing graduates with a strong service ethos, who are prepared to deliver person-centred care.
The Bachelor of Nursing offered at Notre Dame is a popular program and has been oversubscribed in recent years. The University has been working to calibrate our intake into the Bachelor of Nursing for 2026 and to balance enrolments across the program within accredited program capacity. This work is ongoing.
To give certainty to our students and to prospective students and key stakeholders, we have taken the difficult yet prudent decision to communicate that there will be no new intake into the Bachelor of Nursing program in Semester 2 2026 and Semester 1 2027.
Current and graduating students in the accredited Bachelor of Nursing program and all other Nursing programs are unaffected.
Our students remain our priority, and we will continue to deliver the highest quality of education and practical experience for them.
We are supporting and communicating directly with those prospective students affected to assist them with their tertiary study options and to offer guidance and relevant support towards helping them achieve their goals.
Notre Dame’s commitment to delivering a high-quality, patient-centred nursing program is unwavering.
The University remains fully committed to delivering excellent nursing education into the future and expects more than 1,000 nursing students to have graduated during 2026 and 2027, ready to enter the health workforce.
