Department of Defence

The Albanese Government is investing $41.7 million in critical infrastructure upgrades to support accommodation and facilities at RAAF Base Tindal in Katherine, Northern Territory.

One of Australia’s most important strategic Defence sites, RAAF Base Tindal will receive key upgrades to live-in and working accommodation for Australian Defence Force (ADF) members.

The investment also includes refurbishments to the RAAF Base Tindal Fire Station, a community building, and security alarm upgrades.

Works are underway and will create 550 job opportunities in Katherine, providing significant opportunities for local trades, construction, and other businesses, including promoting the participation of Indigenous companies.

The Albanese Government has made a generational investment in the ADF’s posture, capability, and structure to deliver the National Defence Strategy.

This includes focused investment in the Defence estate across the Northern Territory and Australia to enhance the ADF’s ability to project force, support workforce growth and meet training needs.
