This month at Chapel Off Chapel, there’s a world premiere, masterful theatre, outstanding comedy, incredible music and sizzling dancers on stage and ready to entertain you; something for everyone!

The excitement builds with the premiere of Ron Elisha’s new work Rootless Cosmopolitans. This hilarious and thought-provoking show features theatre veteran Anton Berezin. Do not miss musical theatre royalty Queenie van de Zandt as she takes us on an unplanned evening of great show tunes. And for something very different Jazz Men bring the heat with their scorching hot fusion of dance, cabaret and comedy.

Celebrating 11 years, Take the Mic features emerging Melbourne singers of all styles performing pop hits to musical theatre. Over two days, experience Melbourne’s newest talent in a singing extravaganza like no other. With special appearances from industry judges Des Flanaganand Alinta Chidzey (Moulin Rouge! The Musical) and Cassie McIvor and Madi K (The Voice, Australia). 4 and 5 May

Rootless Cosmopolitans

A dangerous comedy about not going quietly, the world premiere of celebrated Australian playwright Ron Elisha’s new work is a timely, thought-provoking black comedy piece that explores the polarising power of social media, anti-semitism and the minefield of identity politics. With Anton Berezin, Emily Joy, Seon Williams and the legendary Babs McMillan. 15 May to 2 June

Jazz Men

Renowned Melbourne choreographer Robert Sturrock presents Jazz Men – a dynamic new dance revue with a world class cast of dancers who will captivate your imagination with every move. Featuring 11 male dancers and MC/vocalist Bek Chapman, the troupe dance and sing their way through a wide variety of music from the 1940s to Rock, from Jazz to Latin and a few dancefloor hits! 17 May

Join us for the second event in our Creative Conversations series – designed for artists, organisations and creatives to connect, share ideas and build meaningful connections. As an insight into showcasing and producing new works, the Chapel team partner with Whiskey & Boots and their award-winning production, Mama Stitch. 22 May

And if that’s not enough, the iconic Chapel plays host to an array of exciting and diverse musical acts – stripped back, up close and personal with the Chapel Sessions. As the former frontwoman of Little Birdy, Katy infuses her distinctive mix of indie and pop into this captivating performance, featuring the incredibly talented Grammy.
