Police are investigating after a man was located with life-threatening injuries in Balwyn last night.
Emergency services were called to a Conway Crescent address after residents located the injured man in their backyard shortly before 9pm.
He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Detectives are investigating whether the man was assaulted.
They would like to speak to any witnesses or anyone who heard anything suspicious in the Conway Crescent area prior to the man being located.
