Man charged after tools worth $200,000 seized – Parramatta

Police have charged a man following investigations into the theft of approximately $200,000 worth of power tools.

In March 2024, officers from Cumberland Police Area Command began investigating steal from motor vehicle offences in the Merrylands area.

It is alleged that the tools were stolen from motor vehicles from various locations including Merrylands and Holroyd.

Following extensive enquiries, police executed a search warrant at a home on George Street, Parramatta about XXam yesterday (Friday 26 April 2024), and arrested a 35-year-old man.

Police will allege the man was in possession of numerous power tools, a Yamaha motorcycle, electric scooter, and a small bag containing methylamphetamine.

The items were seized for forensic examination.

The 35-year-old man was taken to Granville Police Station where he was charged with:

  • Six counts of larceny
  • Five counts of destroy or damage property
  • Steal motor vehicle
  • Deal with property proceeds of crime => $100000
  • Break and enter intend to commit serious indictable offence
  • Break and enter intend to commit serious indictable offence (attempt)

He was bail refused to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Thursday 20 June 2024.

As inquiries continue, police have released an image of a white Ford Focus which they believe could assist them with their inquiries.
