The Northern Territory Government is making significant investments in infrastructure, surpassing a major milestone with $1 billion in payments processed in the current financial year.
This monumental spend is coupled with the Territory Labor Governments record $4.07 billion Infrastructure program in Budget 2023.
From the 1st of July 2022 to April 2023, 337 construction contracts valued at $697.7 million have been awarded, with 99% of these going to local businesses, supporting over 3500 local jobs, with countless more to be created long into the future.
Strategic planning and delivery of Infrastructure investment in the Northern Territory creates jobs, builds opportunity and unlocks economic growth.
Some substantial contracts awarded this financial year include:
o State Square Art Gallery and Precinct Redevelopment – Construction Contract for $88.25 million
o Construction of New Mental Health Inpatient Unit and Associated Works at Royal Darwin Hospital – $57.695 million
o Contract for Repairs and Maintenance on Public and Social Housing Assets for 24 Months in the Darwin Region – $42.44 million
o Upgrade and Seal Paru Road CH 4.0KM to CH 12.3KM, Including Barge Access Road at Melville Island – $28.425 million
o Construct New Health Centre, Renal Unit and Morgue in Jabiru – $20.57 million
o Civil Maintenance of Pavements and Drainage for 36 Months – $17.57 million
These awarded contracts amongst many others are now in the delivery phase and are having flow on benefits to contractors and businesses right across the Territory, meaning up to $1 billion dollars has gone into the pockets of Territorians this financial year alone.
As our economy grows, and our investments diversify we are not slowing down, the following projects are just glimpse into the pipeline of works supporting our booming Territory infrastructure sector into the future:
