The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters is delighted with the return of the Norwood Christmas Pageant and the attendance by the local community.
Mayor Robert Bria today thanked the thousands of children and families who lined the streets of The Parade, Norwood, on Saturday, 26 November.
Following a two-year forced break due to COVID-19, there was high anticipation for the much-loved and iconic event and it is estimated that the crowd numbers reached 15,000.
Pleasingly, the light rain held off for the majority of the Pageant, paving the way for Santa to make his grand entrance about 10.45am.
Mayo Bria today thanked all the attendees, participants, Volunteers and Council staff.
“The Pageant goes for just over an hour, but it involves a full year of planning,” Mayor Bria said.
“I am sure that everyone who attended was as thrilled as the Council and myself, that this celebrated and prominent event rolled into our City once again.
“I would particularly like to acknowledge and thank the 80 Volunteers who dedicated their time and skills to help make the Pageant such a fantastic day.
“Also a huge thank you to everyone who took part from schools and local community groups.
“We missed putting on this event for our local community for the past two years and it was great to return with such a flawless and magical day.
‘The Pageant is the epiphany of ‘team-effort’ and the Council is already looking forward to hosting this spectacular event in 2023.”
