$1.5 million for tourism emissions reduction program

Jeremy Rockliff, Minister for Tourism and Hospitality

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is supporting the tourism and hospitality industry in our transition to a low-emissions economy through a $1.5 million package.

This funding supports the Tasmanian Government’s 2030 Visitor Economy Strategy announced last month, with a commitment to be a leading destination for climate conscious travel.

Premier and Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, Jeremy Rockliff, said the $1.5 million package will support emissions reduction activities in the industry and will be delivered through four streams of activity.

“The Tourism Industry Council Tasmania will receive $300,000 to support operators to undertake emissions audits and carbon accounting, as well as helping them to understand their emissions profile and then develop plans to reduce their footprint,” the Premier said.
