Officers from the Police Transport Command have concluded a three-day policing operation arresting 57 persons involved in sexual offending in and around the Public Transport network as part of Operation Savete.
Commencing on Tuesday (25 August 2026) and concluding last Thursday (27 August 2026) 160 officers were deployed across the state in both a high visibility policing and covert capacity arresting 57 individuals.
Incidents of note include:
- A 40-year-old man was arrested in Main Street, Scone, at 10am on Wednesday 26 August 2026 for allegedly harassing a 15-year-old female school student at 8am on Tuesday 23 June 2026 at Lidcombe Railway Station. He was taken to Muswellbrook Police Station and charged with harass/intimidate school student attending school. He was granted conditional bail to appear before Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 22 September 2026
- A 19-year-old man was arrested in Desborough Place, Colyton, at 2pm on Wednesday 26 August 2026 for allegedly sexually touching three women on the rail network on Thursday 20 August 2026 and Tuesday 25 August 2026. He was taken to St Marys Police Station and charged with intentionally alter intimate image without consent, sexually touch another person without consent, carry out sexual act with another without consent (two counts) and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical or mental harm. He appeared before Penrith Local Court on Thursday 27 August 2026 where he was refused bail to appear at the same court on Thursday 10 September 2026.
- An 18-year-old man was arrested near Blacktown Railway Station about 11am on Tuesday 25 August 2026 for allegedly carrying out a sexual act on a train between Penrith and Central railway stations at about 6pm on Saturday 22 August 2026. He was taken to Blacktown Police Station and charged with carry out sexual act with another without consent (three counts). He appeared before Blacktown Local Court on Wednesday 26 August 2026 where he was refused bail to appear before Mt Druitt Local Court on Wednesday 2 September 2026.
Inspector Natasha Telfer, Operation Manager, said police will relentlessly pursue individuals who engage in acts of violence and sexual offences and put them before the courts.
“The community have a right to use public transport free from violent and predatory behaviour.”
