16 Days of Activism launched to end family and domestic violence

Campbelltown residents are being called on to show their support for ending domestic violence as part of the 16 Days of Activism campaign.

Sixteen days of activism calls for action against gender-based violence and will be held until Thursday 10 December.

Local businesses can register now to receive a Domestic and Family Violence 16 Days of Activism Kit, containing a range of resources to help raise awareness in the community.

“It’s important that we bring the conversation around domestic violence into the open so that we can work collectively to confront the issue and take steps towards ending domestic violence,” General Manager Lindy Deitz said.

“Every week, one woman dies as a result of domestic violence and it can leave survivors and children with lifelong trauma,” Ms Deitz said.

“This is why it’s so important that we talk about and address these issues as a community all year round,” she said.

As part of the campaign, the Campbelltown Domestic Violence Committee is calling on individuals and companies to show how they can be activists for 365 days a year by developing a DV workplace policy, joining the committee, displaying posters and learning more about gender equity.
