19 charges laid over property related offences – Murray River and Riverina PDs

Police have charged multiple men following investigations into the alleged theft of property and cars across the state’s Riverina region.

Officers attached to the Murray River Police District Proactive Crime Team, with assistance from Riverina Police District have been investigating a number of property offences involving stolen motor vehicles within the Murray River Police District and Riverina Police Districts.

Following investigations, yesterday (Wednesday 20 March 2024), officers attached to Murray River Police District attended Albury Police Station.

A 20-year-old man already in custody, was charged with eleven offences;

– drive conveyance taken w/o consent of owner

– 2 counts of dishonestly obtain property by deception

– dispose m/v part-theft=serious indictable offence » $5000

– never licensed person drive vehicle on road

– use class A vehicle with unauthorised number plate affixed

– goods suspected stolen in/on premises (not motor vehicle)

– receive property-theft=serious indictable offence «=$5000

– dispose m/v part-theft=serious indictable offence «=$5000

– driver not disclose identity of driver/passenger as required

– not park wholly within parking bay

Police will allege they relate to a grey Nissan Maxima sedan allegedly stole from Thurgoona on (Friday 26 January 2024) and a white Toyota Camry sedan allegedly stolen from Henty on (Sunday 11 February 2024).

He was refused bail and appeared before Albury Local Court yesterday (Wednesday 20 March 2024), to reappear at the same court on (Wednesday 1 May 2024).

Yesterday (Tuesday 19 March 2024), officers attached to Murray River Police District attended Wagga Wagga Police Station.

A 27-year-old man already in custody, was charged with receive etc property stolen outside NSW.

Police will allege it relates to a Holden Commodore allegedly stolen from Springhurst, Victoria on (Thursday 8 February 2024).

He remains in custody and will appear in Albury Local Court on (Monday 15 April 2024).

A 23-year-old man was also charged with two counts of take & drive conveyance without consent of owner and two counts of dispose motor vehicle part-theft=serious indictable offence » $5000.

Police will allege it related to a black Nissan Patrol SUV allegedly stolen from Carrawarna on (Tuesday 30 January 2024) and a grey Jeep Cherokee SUV, allegedly stolen from Thurgoona on (Wednesday 31 January 2024).

He remains in custody and will appear in Albury Local Court on (Tuesday 30 April 2024).

Additionally, a 23-year old man was charged with larceny, take & drive conveyance without consent of owner and dispose motor vehicle part-theft=serious indictable offence » $5000.

Police will allege it relates to a white Subaru Outback station wagon allegedly stolen from Albury on (Tuesday 26 September 2024).

He will appear before Albury Local Court on (Thursday 16 May 2024).

Police will allege the four offenders were involved in the theft of 6 cars, across the Murray River Police District, the Riverina Police District and north-east Victoria.
