$200,000 community support and infrastructure grants open

The ACT Government is supporting local community organisations to invest in new infrastructure, equipment and programs.

A total of $200,000 is now available through the 2022-23 Community Support and Infrastructure (CSIG) Grant program. Individual organisations can apply for up to $10,000 to assist in small scale upgrades to their premises and to improve their programs and services.

Minister for Families and Community Services Rachel Stephen-Smith said local community organisations play a key role in supporting Canberrans to live happy, healthy and connected lives.

“These grants are an opportunity for organisations to invest in the infrastructure, equipment and capability that they know will make a real difference to their organisation and the wider community.

“I encourage any community organisation with a great idea to apply,” said Minister Stephen-Smith.

Successful recipients of the previous round earlier this year were supported to:

  • upgrade children’s playground equipment in the Currawong Early Learning Centre
  • purchase whitegoods and furniture to create a welcoming and accessible community hub
  • upgrade a staff kitchen
  • undertake staff training to increase an organisation’s capacity for business, financial and management skills

“Receiving a Community Support and Infrastructure Grant enabled us to upgrade our children’s play equipment to support inclusive health and wellbeing outcomes and engage children in practical and active learning experiences in natural environments and settings. The upgrade also included an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culturally welcoming and inclusive space for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous children to enjoy.”
