2019 Gold Coast Marathon road closures

Gold Coast police would like to remind motorists of upcoming road closures due to the 41st Gold Coast Marathon.

The event will be conducted over two days, Saturday July 6 and Sunday July 7, 2019 with over 30,000 competitors expected to participate in this year’s event.

All events start and finish at the Southport Broadwater Parklands. The course for the marathon, which will be held on Sunday, extends right down to include the Esplanade at Burleigh Heads.

Police have been working with the relevant stakeholders to ensure the marathon and associated events are conducted safely and with minimum disruption to traffic.

Motorists are urged to avoid travelling anywhere along the route over the two-day event due to diversions that will be in place. Delays can be expected and motorists need to keep an eye out for competitors and fun runners.

“A large contingent of officers will be policing the two-day event accompanied by marshalls to ensure public safety and to minimise disruption to local residents and businesses as much as possible during the event,” Senior Sergeant Des Hearn said.
