2019 Portrait of a Senior Territorian Art Award Open for Entries

Senior Territorians lives, histories and their contributionsto the Territory will again be celebrated with the prestigious 2019 Portrait ofa Senior Territorian Art Award now open for entries.

The Portrait of a Senior Territorian Art Award andExhibition commenced as a one-off event to celebrate the International Year of the Older Person in 1999 and has since grown into an annual acquisition award thatshowcases the artistic talents of NT artists and celebrates our seniorTerritorians.

Since 2017 the winning artwork has been acquired bythe Northern Territory Government as part of the Araluen Arts Collection.

Portrait of a Senior Territorian offers a prize pool of $10,500 withfirst prize a $7,000 Acquisition Award, second prize $2,000, third prize $500and the Peoples Choice Prize $1,000.

This years Award and Exhibition will be hosted bythe Northern Territory Library in Parliament House with winners announced atthe opening on Friday 8 November and the exhibition on display until Sunday 15December 2019.

The Peoples Choice Prize of $1000 is determined bypublic votes submitted across the exhibition period and will be announced atthe close of the exhibition.

The Award is open to artists aged 17 years and overwho are residents of the Northern Territory.
