Parkes Aquatic Centre will open its doors to the community on Saturday 9 October for the 2021-22 pool season.

Parkes Shire Mayor Cr Ken Keith OAM said, “As the warmer weather approaches and we come into spring, we are excited that the pools are re-opening however, similar to last year, please expect some changes and strict guidelines to be put in place as a result of the current COVID-19 pandemic.”

These changes will include:

  • From Monday – Friday the Parkes Pool will be closed to the public between 1.30-3pm for cleaning sanitisation in line with COVID-19 Government regulations
  • All visitors will be required to sign in using the NSW Health COVID-19 QR Code.
  • Physical distancing measures including restrictions in changerooms and the number of swimmers per lane will apply
  • All people over the age of 16 will be required to show proof of double vaccination status to enter Shire Swimming Pools from Monday, 11 October 2021.

“We ask that our community and visitors please respect these restrictions and changes as staff are doing their best to keep the facility a safe place for everyone to enjoy,” Cr Keith said.

Parkes Shire Council coordinates a Learn to Swim Program operating from October to March at the Parkes Aquatic Centre. Different programs are available for different ages (from six months old) and abilities. Registrations for the Learn to Swim Program are now open, and forms are available on Council’s website.

Season tickets for the coming 2021-22 season can be purchased from the Parkes Pool kiosk which will be open from Wednesday 6 to Friday 8 October between 12pm and 6pm.

The Parkes Shire township pools of Peak Hill, Tullamore and Trundle are expected to open on Saturday 30 October for the upcoming swimming season.
