Nominations are now open for the 2021 Campaspe Community Volunteer Awards Program which recognise the significant contribution made by individuals and groups within the community.

Mayor Cr Chrissy Weller said the awards acknowledge and pay tribute to volunteers who give tirelessly of their time to improve the lives of people within our community.

“We are fortunate to have so many volunteers in Campaspe. They are truly the heart and soul of our community,” Ms Weller said.

Awards are presented in the following categories:

Individual: outstanding voluntary contribution and achievement by an individual person

Young person: outstanding voluntary contribution and achievement by a person aged under 25 years

Organisation: an outstanding contribution and achievement by a not-for-profit organisation for supporting its volunteers.

“Volunteers are the life blood of many of our sporting clubs, schools, service clubs, churches and emergency service agencies. Without their dedication and hard work, these organisations would not be where they are today.”

“We have an extraordinary level of programs provided by volunteers and often the value of these individuals is overlooked. This is our chance to say thank you for their outstanding commitment and I encourage the community to nominate relevant people.”

Coinciding with National Volunteer Week (17 – 23 May), a special awards presentation will be held on 21 May.

The winners of the Individual and Young Person categories will each receive a prize to the value of $250 and the winner of the Organisation category will receive a prize to the value of $550.

The closing date for 2021 Volunteer Award nominations is Friday, 16 April.
