2022: year in review

We’ve made strong construction progress in New South Wales, completing Stage 1 and 2 of Phase 1 of the Narrabri to North Star section, with Stage 3 expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year. This achievement is made even more remarkable given the team faced some unprecedented extreme weather and significant flooding in the region.

We have now also submitted our environmental impact statements for the remainder of the Inland Rail sections in New South Wales and look forward to more progress in 2023.

In Victoria we appointed our major contractor, McDonnell Dowell. Early works are underway, with construction on track to start next year.

We are also hard at work trying to get construction underway in Queensland in 2023 – including recently receiving ARTC approvals for the Whetstone Materials Distribution Centre.

On-the-ground, we’ve consulted our communities and refined plans and designs. We’ve continued to support local business and make a real difference along the way.

More than 3,700 people have worked on construction of our projects including 1,300 locals and 360 First Nations people. We’ve upskilled more than 200 local businesses through workshops and training and trained 120 people in civil construction competencies.

And that’s just the start of our journey. Join us in looking back to see how far we’ve come…
