The 2024 Adelaide Fringe kicks off for another year this week, bringing the fun of the festival season to South Australia.
South Australia is the cultural heart of Australia and the start of Adelaide Fringe provides a significant cultural boost across our entire state for the next month, running from February 16 to March 17.
The Malinauskas Government knows how important Adelaide Fringe is to South Australia and we continue to invest in this iconic event with an additional $8 million over four years.
This year’s program includes more than 1400 shows featuring 6000 artists in 500 venues across South Australia with more than half showcasing South Australian talent.
The Fringe will expand significantly into the regions in 2024 with more than 120 shows across the Limestone Coast, Murraylands and Riverland, Yorke and Eyre Peninsulas, Fleurieu Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, Barossa Valley, Clare Valley and the Adelaide Hills.
A number of regional venues also received the State Government funded Fringe it LIVE grants, which provided up to $2500 for venues to host live music performances during the Fringe.
Venues in regional South Australia include Sinclairs Gully Winery in the Adelaide Hills, the Loxton Club Inc, the Transcontinental Hotel in Quorn and the Rising Sun Hotel in Auburn.
South Australia reaps the cultural and economic benefits of Fringe with it drawing tourists from interstate and across the world with Fringe aiming to bring more than 50,000 tourists to South Australia in 2024.
2023 was a record-breaking Fringe festival with more than one million tickets sold and $105 million injected into our state’s economy and we’re anticipating 2024 will be another fantastic event for the record books.

A ticket sale at Adelaide Fringe directly supports artists. These are the people that come out to participate in Fringe every year and take the financial risk to produce and deliver a show.
Selling a million tickets last year was monumental as it represents money in the pockets of our artists.
