2024 Bland Shire Australia Day Awards Nominees Announced

The 2024 Australia Day Award Nominees have been announced, with 20 individuals and community groups receiving recognition and praise from their fellow Bland Shire residents, with some nominees receiving multiple nominations.

The categories for this year were Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year, Young Sportsperson of the Year, Community Service Award and Community Event of the Year.

The nominees are, in no particular order, Wyalong Motorsports Club, Colin Clark, Lewis Henley, Cameron Sydenham, the Hearts of Gold Committee, Vera Kirkwood, Bob McCormick, Holly Brooks, Ann Mangelsdorf, Hugh Williams, Anni Steer, Vanessa Williams, April Haub, Bradley Staniforth, Amanda Stitt, Cathy Lange, Braiden Jones, Kayne Crowe, Harry Roscarel and Shirley Clay.

The Australia Day Awards provide an opportunity for residents of the Bland Shire to receive recognition and thanks for their efforts in going above and beyond for others, and for their efforts in obtaining their many achievements. They serve to formally highlight these contributions and to demonstrate the appreciation of the Bland Shire Community.

The Australia Day Awards Committee were left with difficult decisions to make, with each of the nominees demonstrating outstanding achievement and contribution to the community in unique and exemplary ways.

Bland Shire Council wishes to congratulate and commend each of the nominees for their well-deserved nominations. Whether a contribution has been made on the sporting field, in sporting groups, or in community groups, each has added value to the Bland Shire in some way.

The winners of the Australia Day Awards will be announced at an Awards Ceremony following the free Lions Club Community Breakfast at Barnardo Park from 7:00AM on Friday 26 January 2024.
