Delivering improvements
We have released the latest round of updates to our website bom.gov.au.
Based on your feedback, we have:
- added today’s forecast to the 7-day tab
- added a new radar coverage layer to the rain radar
- enabled postcode, state, territory and district searches.
Today’s update follows changes last year to make the rain radar and weather map more usable, fire danger information more comprehensive and warnings easier to understand.

Search experience
You can now search by:
- postcode
- district, state and territory.
Rain radar and weather map
You can now use:
- a new map layer to show areas covered by radar
- mouse controls on laptop and desktop to zoom the map. This was only available in full-screen mode previously.
The new radar coverage layer helps you understand which areas have no radar coverage, and where radar images might be less reliable.
