A man has faced court today charged with 41 offences after allegedly stealing $60,000 worth of tools from vehicles in Sydney’s west.
Officers attached to Parramatta Police Area Command’s Proactive Crime Team commenced an investigation in June 2026, following reports of multiple tool thefts from vehicles across several suburbs.
Police established the alleged thefts from vehicles occurred on multiple occasions between Sunday 21 June 2026 to Sunday 16 August 2026, in locations across Parramatta, Winston Hills, Constitution Hill, Greystanes, Toongabbie, Carlingford and Dundas Valley.
An attempted theft also occurred in Toongabbie on Saturday 27 June 2026.
The approximate value of the allegedly stolen tools is $60,000.
Following extensive inquiries, officers – with assistance from detectives attached to Parramatta Police Area Command and the Public Order Riot Squad – executed a search warrant at a home in Smithfield about 6am yesterday (Tuesday 25 August 2026).
During the search, police allegedly located and seized 61 items, primarily consisting of power tools.
A short time later, officers executed a secondary search warrant at an address in Canley Vale, where they arrested a 30-year-old man following a short foot pursuit.
Police will allege multiple power tools were also located and seized at the Canley Vale address.
A white Toyota Hilux was also seized for forensic examination, which police will allege was used to commit the offences.
The 30-year-old was taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with 41 offences,
- Aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal less than or equal to $60,000
- Break and enter house steal value less than or equal to $60,000
- Possess housebreaking implements (four counts)
- Destroy or damage property less than or equal to $2,000 (six counts)
- Larceny value greater than $5,000 and less than or equal to $15,000 (four counts)
- Larceny value greater than $2,000 and less than or equal to $5,000 (five counts)
- Larceny value less than or equal to $2,000 (two counts)
- Larceny (three counts)
- Shoplifting value greater $5,000 and less than or greater to $15,000
- Dispose property-theft serious indictable offence less than or equal $5,000
- Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period (10 counts)
- Learner/P1/P2 driver passengers (over 16) not wear seatbelts, and
- Class A motor vehicle exceed speed greater than 10 km/h (two counts).
He was refused bail and appeared before Fairfield Local Court today (Wednesday 26 August 2026) where he was formally refused bail with his next reappearance on Wednesday 9 September 2026.
Investigations are ongoing.
