$628,000 for 50 arts and cultural projects

Audiences in regional Australia will benefit from quality arts and cultural projects thanks to funding of around $628,000 from the Morrison Government through the latest Regional Arts Fund (the Fund) round.

The funding will support 50 projects which showcase regional and remote artists to communities across Australia, including Indigenous art, sculptures, installations, dance performances, textiles, literature and theatre.

Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety and the Arts, the Hon Paul Fletcher MP, said the Fund is an example of how the Government is promoting artists and boosting arts and cultural practices in regional areas.

“We are giving artists opportunities they may not otherwise have and helping our regional communities to remain vibrant and strong,” said Minister Fletcher.

The Government administers multiple programs such as Festivals Australia, Visions of Australia and the National Collection Institutions Touring Outreach program to encourage growth in arts and culture in regional Australia.

“These projects are reaching right across Australia to places like Port Lincoln in South Australia, to Boolarra in Victoria and up to Exmouth in Western Australia,” said Minister Fletcher.

Each year the Government provides around $3.5 million through the Regional Arts Fund, which is delivered by Regional Arts Australia through organisations in each state and territory.

This funding is available through a mix of quick response and community grants for arts projects, professional development for artists and arts workers and community building projects.
