A Country Christmas concert goes national to thank NSW seniors

Deputy Premier

Santa isn’t the only celebrity coming to town this festive season with Paulini and Lorenzo Rositano performing in tomorrow’s national broadcast of A Country Christmas – A Thank You To All Seniors.

Deputy Premier John Barilaro said the NSW Government is offering this concert to all seniors on television as a small thank you for their valuable contribution to our communities after an extremely challenging year.

“We are so happy families across NSW and especially in our regions can come together for Christmas. We have endured catastrophic bushfires, crippling drought, floods and a global health pandemic,” Mr Barilaro said.

“COVID made going about everyday life tougher for seniors because they are in a higher risk category, but they have showed incredible resilience and continue to support their communities and families as volunteers, carers and role models.”

Acting Minister for Seniors Geoff Lee said two COVID-safe performances of A Country Christmas were pre-recorded in Queanbeyan with seniors in attendance but the national broadcast gives everyone the chance to join in.

“For 17 years these concerts have given older people the chance to attend a professional music event near their outer-Sydney or regional home,” Mr Lee said.

“Everyone should tune in to watch and deck the halls of their own homes with so many Christmas classics on the song list.”

Marcia Hines, Damien Leith and Alfie Accuri join Paulini and Rositano for the star studded line-up.

The Seven Network will broadcast A Country Christmas nationally on Saturday 12 December from 12pm (AEST) on Seven and Prime7.

“I’m so proud of the way our seniors have been so resilient during this challenging year and we want to acknowledge how much we appreciate everything you do to keep our communities strong,” said Mr Lee.
