A personal story shared

Wyndham City Libraries are proud to host a free online author talk in celebration of Refugee Week (Refugee Week runs 20 June to 26 June).

Wyndham local, Dr William Abur, will share personal stories of migration and settlement of refugees and specifically the settlement experiences of the South Sudanese community in Australia.

Dr Abur is the first speaker to share his story via our new Community Stories program and we look forward to offering further talks later in the year.

Dr Abur’s recently published book, A new life with opportunities and challenges, is insightful and offers a rare glimpse of the hardships and challenges to overcome when moving to a new country.

Welcoming City portfolio holder Cr Jennie Barrera, said: “Refugee Week is the perfect time to recognise the contributions refugees such as Dr Abur make to our community.”

“Refugee Week unites individuals and organisations from many different backgrounds together in harmony. The theme ‘Unity; the way forward’, recognises how our differences and similarities make Wyndham a great place to live.”

“We are proud of our multicultural diversity and our commitment to resettlement.”

Join Dr Abur online on Wednesday 23 June at 7.30pm to hear his personal story and the settlement experiences of the South Sudanese community.
