The release of the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) Method Development Interim Framework brings the Australian Government closer to implementing the recommendations from the ACCU independent review.
The review recommended:
- the Carbon Abatement Integrity Committee (the Integrity Committee) replace the Emissions Reduction Assurance Committee (ERAC)
- moving from a government-led method development process to a proponent-led approach to method development.
The interim framework will provide some interim support to external method developers while the new Integrity Committee and proponent-led method development process are being established. However, this guidance is interim only and not definitive. This guidance may also be updated from time to time in response to stakeholder feedback.
