Acknowledging our past – nurses to be commemorated in the 2019 Australian War Memorial Last Post Ceremony

ACN is proud to honour our past and commemorate those who have served our country as civilian or military nurses. The Australian War Memorial (AWM) holds daily Last Post Ceremonies, in which one person will be commemorated each day at 4.55pm, to pay tribute to the Australians on the AWM’s Honour Roll.

The 2019 schedule for the Australian War Memorial Last Post Ceremonies currently includes two Australian service nurses. Yesterday February 11, ACN CEO Kylie Ward FACN and Dr Carolyn Stapleton FACN attended the ceremony to commemorate Sister Alma Beard and laid a wreath beside the Pool of Reflection on behalf of the nursing profession.

The next 2019 service for nurses will be held on 2 April in honour of Flight Lieutenant Lynne Rowbottom, Health Services Flight.

All members are invited to attend Last Post Ceremonies. Those unable to attend can view Last Post Ceremonies through the Australian War Memorial YouTube and Facebook live channels.
