Acting Director-General announced to oversee Queensland Health

The Premier and Health Minister are pleased to announce that Michael Walsh will step in as Queensland Health’s acting Director-General from July 24, while an international recruitment campaign is undertaken to fill the role permanently.

Mr Walsh brings extensive experience in the health system, including leading Queensland Health as Director General for over four years from 2015 to 2019.

He also has a strong understanding of the national pressures facing our health system, given his recent work reviewing the National Hospital Funding Agreement.

His appointment will ensure the Palaszczuk Government can continue driving better performance, achieving better health outcomes, and delivering on the new Health Minister’s key priority areas.
