Acts Intended To Transmit Serious Disease At Mackay

Detectives from Sarina Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a man with multiple offences as part of investigations into acts intended to transmit serious disease in the Mackay area.

It will be alleged between November 2022, and July 2023, a 24-year-old Campwin Beach man had intimate relationships with multiple women after meeting them through various social media.

It will be alleged he knowingly transmitted a serious disease to women on two occasions.

The 24-year-old Campwin Beach man was arrested in Sarina yesterday, February 27.

He has been charged with two counts of acts intended to cause GBH or transmit serious disease, four counts of contravening a domestic violence offence and two counts of distributing intimate images (DV offence).

He is expected to appear at Mackay Magistrates Court today, February 28.

Police are urging anyone who has had similar experiences to come forward.

Investigations are continuing.
