Detectives have laid an additional charge of murder following the death of man after a crash at Schofields in August.
About 3pm Tuesday 8 August 2023, emergency services were called to Sciberras Avenue, Schofields, following reports a vehicle had left the roadway and struck a house.
Officers attached to Riverstone Police Area Command attended and found a man with serious injuries; it’s alleged he was struck by the vehicle before it crashed into a nearby house.
The 38-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition. He was later released.
The driver of the vehicle – a 44-year-old woman – was also injured. She was arrested before being taken to Blacktown Hospital in a stable condition.
On Wednesday 9 August 2023, the woman was released from hospital and taken to Riverstone Police Station where she was charged. She remains before the courts.
On Thursday 31 August 2023, police were notified the man had subsequently died.
An additional charge of murder was laid at Penrith Local Court today (Friday 6 October 2023) where the woman was formally refused bail to appear at the same court on Friday 1 December 2023.
