Additional charges laid after drug supply investigation at Wollongong, NSW

Additional drug supply charges have been laid following a strike force investigation in Wollongong.

Strike Force Braky was formed by the Wollongong Police District Drug Unit in March 2020 to investigate the supply of Gamma Butrylactone (GBL) in the Wollongong area.

Following extensive inquiries, a Toyota Kluger was stopped by police on the M1 Motorway at Figtree about 8.30pm on Thursday 16 April 2020.

Following a search of the vehicle, investigators seized three glass bottles containing a clear liquid and a purse containing drug paraphernalia.

The driver of the vehicle, a 38-year-old woman, was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station, where she was charged with commercial drug supply.

Following further inquiries, police laid additional charges of supply prohibited drug (x4), supply prohibited drug – commercial quantity (x4), supply prohibited drug – large commercial quantity (x2) and deal with property suspected proceeds of crime.

The woman remains bail refused and is due to face Wollongong Local Court today (Wednesday 8 July 2020).
