Additional charges laid as investigations into numerous armed robberies continue, NSW

Robbery and Serious Crimes Squad detectives have laid additional charges against a Cessnock man following an investigation into a spate of armed robberies, car thefts, and other offences across Sydney.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad established Strike Force Lilley to investigate several robberies at jewellers and businesses between December 2021 and January 2022.

Earlier this year, investigators arrested two men – aged 30 and 35 – who were charged over their alleged roles in those robberies and currently remain before the courts.

As part of ongoing investigations, Strike Force Lilley detectives laid an additional 12 charges against the 35-year-old Cessnock man at Parramatta Local Court yesterday (Thursday 25 March 2022).

The charges include two counts of police pursuit – not stop – drive at speed – 1st offence, three counts of robbery armed with offensive weapon, two counts of steal motor vehicle, two counts of take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, steal from the person value more than $15,000, armed with intent commit indictable offence, commit s114 offence, having previous conviction, and destroy or damage property.

The man is now facing a total of 32 charges relating to his alleged involvement in the robberies.

He was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Thursday 28 April 2022.

Investigation under Strike Force Lilley are continuing.
