Additional support for family and sexual violence during COVID-19

Peter Gutwein,Premier and Minister for the Prevention of Family Violence

The health, safety and wellbeing of Tasmanians is our number one priority as we continue to face the challenges of COVID-19.

The Tasmanian Government has signed a new partnership with the Australian Government to boost our responses to family and sexual violence.

The partnership will provide an additional $1.4 million this financial year to help ensure the safety of women and their children, or those at risk of experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence during the coronavirus pandemic.

The funding is on top of the additional $2.7 million already being delivered for family and sexual violence through the State Government’s Economic and Social Support package.

The Tasmanian Government is currently engaging with the community sector regarding proposals for the additional funding.
