Addressing Youth Unemployment through Experience and Training

On the day that we are reminded what a detrimental impact COVID-19 has had on employment, including jobs for young people, the PaTH initiative announced today making it even more effective in helping young people into work is an important part of the solution.

“ACCI has been consistent in saying PaTH’s potential could be better realised through active partnerships with industry. Our pre-Budget submission reinforced this call for action,” ACCI’s director of employment, education and training Jenny Lambert said.

“In times of high youth unemployment it is so important to keep young people connected to workplaces, and provide them with the skills and experience they need to secure and retain a job.”

“It is a tough labour market, but even in such difficult conditions, programs operated by or in strong partnership with industry have proven time and time again they work to connect young people with employers.”

“The $10 m program announced today by the Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business is an important part of the solution.”

“We look forward to working with the Minister and her team in ensuring this initiative delivers for young people the jobs they so desperately need.”
