Adult change facility now available at Lake Wyangan recreation area

Council continues to strengthen accessibility across local facilities, with an adult change table installed at the toilet block at the Lake Wyangan recreation area.

The addition of the change facility is part of ongoing work to improve local parks and recreation spaces, making them more inclusive for everyone.

The new facility includes an electric lift adult change table, similar to the one installed previously at Hanwood Oval Amenities Building, with both requiring MLAK Key access. Those who are eligible, are able to apply for an MLAK key at Council’s customer service.

Councillor Shari Blumer, Chair of the Disability Inclusion and Access Committee, said the addition is an important step toward improving everyday accessibility across the community.

“Accessible facilities like adult change tables make a real difference for people with disability and their carers, giving them the confidence to get out and enjoy our public spaces. It’s great to see Council continuing to prioritise inclusive design so everyone can feel welcome at places like Lake Wyangan”, she said.

An adult change table is also available at Griffith Regional Aquatic Leisure Centre, which is fitted with a hoist lift system. Meanwhile, a full hoist lift system is also available to the public at Griffith Community Centre on Olympic Street.

These facilities provide practical support for people with disability and their carers, helping make visits safer and more comfortable.

Work continues to identify more locations where similar accessibility improvements can be delivered across Griffith.
