Affray charges after stabbing – Surry Hills

A man has been charged with affray following an alleged stabbing in Surry Hills last week.

About 10.25pm on Thursday (13 April 2023), emergency services were called to Devonshire Street, Surry Hills, following reports of a stabbing.

On arrival, officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command will allege a 28-year-old man and a 40-year-old man had been involved in a physical altercation.

It will further be alleged that a third man then allegedly stabbed the 28-year-old man with a pair of scissors.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene, before being taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A crime scene was established as investigations commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 40-year-old man at a unit in Devonshire Street, Surry Hills, about 3.15pm yesterday (Friday 14 April 2023).

He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station, where he was charged with affray.

The man was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 1 June 2023.
