Affray charges in Fortitude Valley, QLD

Detectives from the Organised Crime Gangs Group (Taskforce Maxima) have charged three men following an incident in Fortitude Valley in the early hours of Sunday morning.

It will be alleged around 3.15am on February 23, three men became involved in an altercation with a man outside a nightclub on Ann Street resulting in the man being violently assaulted.

He was transported to hospital with facial injuries.

A 33-year old man from Hamilton was charged with affray, a 31-year-old man from Newstead was charged with affray, failing to take reasonable care with a syringe and three counts of possessing dangerous drugs and a 29-year-old man from Logan was charged with affray, possessing dangerous drugs and breach of a domestic violence order.

They are due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on March 23.

The three were also served with notices banning them from the Safe Night Precinct of Fortitude Valley.

Police believe all three are members of the Comanchero OMCG.

State Crime Command, Detective Superintendent Roger Lowe said the arrests were part of continued efforts of the Organised Criminal Gangs Group targeting offences of violence and intimidation.

“Taskforce Maxima and the Queensland Police Service will continue to target OMCG members, associates and wider syndicates involved in serious crime,” Detective Superintendent Lowe said.

“We are committed to making Queensland a safe place for everyone.”
