AFL Taskforce delivers Business Case for Tasmania’s AFL and AFLW team

Jeremy Rockliff,Acting Premier

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is committed to securing an AFL team of our own and welcomes today’s submission of the AFL and AFLW License Taskforce business case.

The purpose of the business case is to demonstrate to the AFL commission that the inclusion of a Tasmanian team will not only stack up financially, but also strengthen the AFL by making it a truly national competition.

The Taskforce has delivered a comprehensive document, which the Government will now take the appropriate time to consider.

Tasmanians spoke strongly for an AFL and AFLW team of their own, with the ‘United we Stand’ campaign attracting more than 65,000 supporters.

It is high time Tasmania had an AFL and AFLW team of its own and we look forward to reviewing the business case and communicating the details and next steps.
