Detectives from Alice Springs are investigating an incident last night in which a taxi driver was robbed at knifepoint.
Around 9:45pm, the driver attended an address in Araluen when he was approached by two men, one of whom allegedly threatened the driver with a knife before stealing cash, the driver’s mobile phone and the taxi itself.
The driver waved down passing police to report the incident.
Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Schumacher said, “Police were able to track the taxi by GPS, and deployed tyre deflation devices. The vehicle was located abandoned at a nearby shopping complex.”
Investigations continue.
