  • Australian farmgate production to reach new record of $66.3 billion.
  • Agricultural exports to reach just under $47 billion in 2020-21 and almost $50 billion in 2021-22.
  • Australian farmgate production is on track for a record-breaking $66.3 billion year.

Agriculture Minister David Littleproud said it was a great result for the agricultural industry and highlighted its importance to the Australian economy.

“Australian agricultural production is booming as our farmers, fishers and foresters fight back from the pandemic and reach new highs,” Minister Littleproud said.

“Our farmers are finding new international markets and diversifying their production base.

“With the announcement of the UK FTA agreement yesterday, Australian farmers have yet another market to export the best food and fibre in the world.

“We’ve just harvested the second largest winter crop on record and we’re now exporting grain faster than expected, with strong growth in our wheat, barley and canola exports.

“The value of our exports has been revised up by $400 million because of this and the strong domestic livestock prices.

“The Australian Government is backing our farmers all the way, with additional investments in the budget this year of over $400.0 million to further strengthen biosecurity, $29.8 million to grow the agricultural workforce, and $15.0 million to improve trade and market access.

“Results like this are a positive signpost along the road to delivering our Ag2030 plan to back the agricultural industry as it works towards its goal of $100 billion production by 2030.

“It just shows that farmers will continue to lead the way in Australia’s post-COVID recovery.”
