AICD statement 24 Oct 2022

AICD

The AICD had to cancel a LinkedIn Live event scheduled for today following technical issues. The event was in support of the AICD and Cyber Security Co-operative Research Centre (CSCRC) cyber governance principles that were launched last week.

Approximately 4,800 people were registered for the event with approximately 2,500 logged on to the platform when unusual activity began.

Links were posted in the comments section of the platform asking participants to click on a link where credit card details were requested. These links were not genuine. At this stage we do not know if any participants entered their details.

We strongly advise any participants who may have concerns to contact their financial institution as soon as possible.

We are working with our service providers and LinkedIn to understand the issues with this live event.

No compromise of the AICD’s information, systems or network has occurred.

We have notified the appropriate authorities and we will provide more information as it becomes available. AICD Managing Director and CEO Mark Rigotti said: “On behalf of the AICD I would like to apologise for the inconvenience and potential disruption this has caused. “We thank participants for their patience and understanding as we work through these issues.”

“The AICD apologises sincerely for the unacceptable issues with the LinkedIn Live event. We recognise this experience has fallen well below the high standards our members rightly expect of the AICD.”
