Airservices partners with UNIQ You to boost female representation in aviation

Airservices Australia is taking a lead role in addressing “you can’t be what you can’t see” by partnering with not-for-profit UNIQ You to inspire more young girls and women to pursue careers in aviation.

Airservices offers many varied and rewarding opportunities for women, from technical specialist roles on the leading-edge of emerging aviation technologies, through to air traffic control management services and aviation rescue fire fighting.

Importantly, we are committed to ensuring our workplaces are supportive, dynamic and flexible, with an added emphasis on us delivering a diverse, inclusive and respectful working environment for our people.

Now, we’re joining forces with UNIQ You, a new virtual platform aimed at increasing the participation rate of girls pursuing roles and pathways into industries under-represented by women, such as aviation.

It achieves this by connecting hundreds of year 9-12 high school girls with women in industries through an online mentoring program.

Airservices Australia CEO Jason Harfield said the exciting partnership with UNIQ You reflected our commitment to moving the dial on gender diversity and aligned with Airservices’ values.

“Key to this is a culture where all our people feel included and can bring their whole selves to work, every day, without exception” Mr Harfield said.

“It’s imperative that we play a lead role in increasing the number of young girls and women entering the pipeline, who can play a lead role in helping us to provide safe, secure, efficient, and environmentally responsible services to the aviation industry and community. “UNIQ You helps Airservices to engage with and influence Year 9-12 girls during their critical career decision-making years.”
