Allens has advised the financiers to the Plenary Conventions (comprising Plenary Group, Built and BGIS) on the Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre precinct development.
The Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre will transform the Geelong waterfront through the development of convention and exhibition space, a 200-room Crowne Plaza hotel and mixed-use spaces, with the designs for the project developed with the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation.
‘We are pleased have worked with the financiers and the Plenary consortium on the financing of the convention centre and separate financing of the hotel. The precinct development also required early works financing and careful management of several interfaces between the projects,’ said lead partner, David Donnelly.
‘It is great to see social infrastructure assets being developed in regional Victoria and to continue to build on Allens’ market leading experience in the Partnerships Victoria space.’
The deal closes during a busy period in the infrastructure space, with bids for the New Melton Hospital going in last week and other Victorian deals closing in parallel.
